City of Maryville Logo WebThe Maryville City Council awarded EZ Liner Industries, Orange City, IA, a $50,873 bid for a demo AL120 paint striping machine during its October 10 meeting.

The unit is mounted to the bed of a fleet pickup and will allow city staff to paint the streets rather than contracting out the work. The machine is designed for double-line striping and features dual air dryer systems and electronic controls. The machine uses street paint, which is less durable than thermoplastic, and will require staff to reapply each year.

The purchase of these additional items for the street striping machine were approved: a $487 line site laser to ensure straight lines and $297 paint gun wind screens to control mist for a total of $51,648.18 which is under budget.

The machine will arrive in two weeks at which time EZ Liner Industries will provide four hours of staff training.

Council approved the ordinance to execute a grant agreement with the State of Missouri allowing for a new childcare facility to be built at SSM Health St. Francis Hospital. The current structure does not meet state accreditation requirements. The new facility will accommodate up to 120 children. Governor Nixon awarded a Start Smart grant of $1 million with an additional $250,000 in Neighborhood Assistance Program Tax Credits. SSM Health St. Francis Hospital Foundation will fund the remainder of the $3,418,500 project. There will be no expenses for the city.

City council members made a 14-day extension to the contract with Idecker, Inc., Kansas City, for the Northwest Missouri Regional Airport runway rehabilitation. The new project end date was October 9. Idecker Inc. will be charged $750 in liquidated damages per days worked beyond October 9. The company estimates it will finish the project by the beginning of November.
